Our Founder

I created My Beauty Bank to help empower women to live their best lives. After having a scare of breast cancer and undergoing surgery almost 10 years ago, I made the decision to live my life from a holistic perspective. After avoiding the doctor’s office (I was afraid of finding another lump), I decided to stop living in fear and to take control of my life – Mind, Body & Soul. So I decided to create My Beauty Bank to share with you some of my beauty tips ( I call them beauty tips cause no matter what we go through, we all are beautiful and have beautiful lives) to help you, to take control of you and your life as well. It’s all about showing you how to take 100% responsibility for your own life and yes that includes understanding what it means to embrace your OWN(ownership within needed) beauty. Although the media tries to tell us otherwise, I believe that beauty isn’t only about how you ‘look.’ That’s why I’m committed to helping women feel and stay beautiful:Mind, Body and Soul. My Beauty Bank was also inspired by my seven old niece Nelza-Starr who thought that being beautiful meant looking pretty (like the girls in the magazines) and that her attitude and how she treated others and herself didn’t really matter.

So I started giving her beauty tips to help correct the unbalance. That’s when I realized that all women needed some help balancing their beauty ideals as well! That they also need to pay attention to the kind of thoughts they internalize, how they treat themselves and others as well. Feeling beautiful is connected to so many other powerful things, and through OWN, we hope to show women how feeling beautiful can lead to Respect, Pride and Confidence in themselves.

Growing up, I was teased relentlessly about my skinny legs and arms and wide mouth (ahh yes the awkward teenage years). Most of my childhood was spent trying to get over the awkwardness, and learning how to be friends with ‘me.’ I grew up on the island of St.Lucia, in a very remote town called Banse and I used to walk an hour and a half to catch the bus to go to school. On those long walks, I remember talking to myself, coaching myself to love me, to be comfortable with me, telling myself that it didn’t matter what people thought of me. This repetitive ‘pep talk’ was something I kept on doing throughout my teenage years.

The funny thing was the minute I overcame one thing…something else popped up! Haha…That’s when I realized that loving me and staying connected with me required daily positive affirmations and 100% commitment from me.

I want My Beauty Bank(MBB) to be a portal through which we ladies can help each other balance beauty, stay empowered and ultimately stay beautiful. We can share empowering tips, thoughts, stories, fashion tips and ideas – we can help each other live a healthier and more beautiful life. By Taking the Beauty Pledge, we hope to also remind you that YOU are beautiful, because who YOU are matters.
